Orca – Good 4 You [Interview]

Tell us a few things about your new song ‘Good 4 You’. What is the main idea behind it?

Here’s the main idea behind the single “Good 4 You”:
While creating this single, i went with a simple approach and tried to answer the most obvious question that we ask ourselves once We meet someone who’s maybe out of our league, or we’re interested in making the first move on. But before we do any of that, we ask (AM I GOOD FOR YOU). It’s a question that carries much weight if you think about it. Then i decided to tell a simple story that focuses on love, romance, and the importance of asking this question and what you can do to make the first move; this song also contains fresh ideas that i wanted to try out something that’ll make this single stand out among its peers. When it comes to the artwork, i went with a different approach. This time the painting is a storyteller; every detail hints towards something related to the song, from the colors to the heart waves drawn on the top and the bottom of the design, i don’t want to spoil this. It would help if you listened to understand what the art

How would you describe your musical progress over the years?

I’ve been releasing music for a year and two months so far, so good I still have a long way to go. I’m always looking to improve and develop my abilities as an artist and songwriter. I improve with each release that comes out. I’m always on the look-out for reviews, feedback, and support so that I can release and create more music my latest addition is a PayPal donation page for those who wish to support and keep me as an artist; the fact that PayPal is safe and secure I’m hoping that people will feel safer donating to help me out improve and keep going since I’m visually-impaired, and I can’t do everything alone.

Do you like the idea of collaborating? Is songwriting a lonely process?

Since starting out, I wasn’t presented with the opportunity to collab with anyone, but I’m not against it. Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy, and I’ll tell you why I’ve been approached by someone who wanted to collab but turned that he’s a scammer, so to all starting artists out there, be careful don’t trust anyone who offers a collab always do your research before signing or starting any new project.
As for songwriting, songwriting is never a lonely process because once you start writing, you’re immediately taken to this amazing world where ideas are all around, bagging you to be heard are dive deeper and deeper into your creative mind this can take hours and the journey in your creative mind is always fruitful especially when your inspiration is acting as your guiding compass. Hence, I never considered songwriting to be lonely or a tedious process.

What do you enjoy most? Writing music or performing your music live?

Hmm, this is a tough one, honestly. The entire music creation process is enjoyable, from the moment your inspiration hits you to the moment of lyrics writing. Next, you visualize how your recording will go trying different ideas (all in your mind, by the way) and then stepping behind the mic recording the hooks verses, background vocals, adlibs, and layers; then there is the time when you’ll need to sit down and conjure an idea for your single’s artwork thinking of details should you show within it and what will it be about. I love it all because I do it all, with exceptions. I’m proud and blessed to enjoy most of the steps the rest I leave to those I work with due to my poor sight; I’m unable to enjoy everything, but thanks to the outstanding beatmaker FlipTunesMusic, the phenomenal producer/mixing/master engineer Larry Ohh! And the talented designer/illustrator Beartrix, it’s been good, and I’m so thankful for all their efforts.

Is Spotify the music industry’s new Gatekeepers?

To be honest, streaming on Spotify is becoming more and more complicated. You need to reach many streams or get placements in a well-known playlist to get a decent income. So it’s becoming more and more difficult. For me, if you’re not willing to spend much money on campaigns with well-known companies so that they can push your song (Beware from scammers. There are many scammers), then the journey will become more complex and more challenging from here, and for me, that is not an option since my budget is minimal, and without other people’s support, I won’t be able to make such a move. Also, curators make it very difficult to be placed in playlists since they sometimes act as judge, jury, and executioner then you won’t make it, and most of the time they won’t give a reason for it so for starting artists, how are we going to improve if we’re not given the proper feedback or instructions on how to move forward so for me I do post my music on Spotify. However, I’m not getting much out of it due to the difficulties that I’m facing.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

The advice that I will give my younger self is to start early in your life. Then, once your dream is decided, don’t wait it out and don’t listen to the haters around you because that will come back and bite you in the end music industry is all about time and effort, and the earlier you start, the better and wiser you’ll become when it comes to music-making and business decisions.

What is the most useless talent you have?

An excellent question to ask. Do you know why because? I never considered thinking about it, but I’m sure that I will have an answer for it in the future.

Thank you!

Orca – Back To Life [Interview]

Tell us a few things about your new Back To Life. What is the main idea behind it?

Back to life was recorded as a sequel to my earlier release, Your Home the main idea behind Back to life is that whenever you’re surrounded by negative ideas and aura. You feel those ideas are limiting and causing you to go deeper into despair. However, there is always this one person in our lives who’s ready to dive in headfirst no matter how dark our thoughts are, how depressed we feel, or how broken we may seem; he’s always willing to overcome those challenges holding the key that will free us from our chains of despair and sorrow this song is a direct call to that person. Hence, whenever you feel you’re in desperate need of help and can’t take it anymore, make sure to send this song to that person so that he knows that you need his help that you’re in need of him to bring you back to life. The idea becomes crystal clear once you take a look at the artwork for this song the orca chained represents once self unable to move and overcome the darkest times in his life. The chains represent whatever is holding us back. The orca being flipped on its Back means that it cannot resist and is being dragged even deeper into darkness. The red eyes represent all those emotions and thoughts blocking your path to freedom, making sure you’re drowning instead of going up. And finally, there is the other orca with the key in its mouth, which represents that person who’s always diving headfirst to free from the shackles that bind us, ready to bring us back to life.

What is the story behind your name?

The nickname Orca was given to me by my close friends and teammates earlier in life. Despite being a visually-impaired induvial, I used to play soccer and basketball with relying heavily on sight. However, with my other senses heightened, I was able to evade my opponents and score for my team with extreme accuracy, thus nicknamed Orca because, in a way that an orca attacks its prey with extreme precision relying on echolocation at first, the debate was on whether to be called a dolphin. However, thanks to my aggressive playstyle, I was given the nickname Orca instead of carrying it with me.

What first got you into music?

My passion for music cannot be expressed or measured. I used to play with keyboards and sing since I was a child growing up with English music. Even though my mother tongue is Arabic, I fell in love with English music. But thanks to some unique circumstances, I was only able to start releasing music at the age of 30 in January 202

Your dream collaboration?

When it comes to collabs, I never thoughts of it since I’m only focusing on improving my abilities behind the mic, but when I’m asked about the first person that comes to mind is T-pain, he’s the reason why I fell in love with hip-hop and pop music in the first place my second answer will be an artist who’s willing to accept me and also willing to recognize my talent as an artist. As artists, we need to stick together and try to spread the message as much as possible why am I saying this? Because it’s a part of my dream to spread my music across the globe and share it with as many people as possible, creating a movement of those who’ll support and help me release more music as well as those who’ll connect with my music and will consider my music their escape and the place they’ll always come to in order to face their daily challenges and ideals or can make their dreams a reality.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced as an artist so far?

The biggest challenge that I’m facing at the moment is divided into two parts. The first part is me being alone right now. I write records do some basic mixing manage my socials, and run my own website. For a visually-impaired individual, this is overwhelming and can burn you out quickly, so my biggest hope is to find those who’ll support me so that I can focus on releasing music. The second part is the fact that I’m struggling financially when it comes to music I’m always ready and always got ideas to share. However, unfortunately, I can only release one single a month due to a very tight budget which is very depressing and affects me heavily. I wish to share as much of my music with the world as possible with my being limited. The task is becoming more and more difficult that is why I’d like to share this message with the rest of the world: please help and show your support to me so that I can shine and share my talent with you because without this will be impossible to accomplish I recently started a donation page help me realize my dream and let us grow together my biggest wish is to spread the word because my philosophy is “Always To inspire and get inspired because music can fix what words alone cannot” with that said I’m looking forward to your help and support thank you.

In which state of mind do you imagine people might listen to your music?

I promote myself as a visually-impaired artist, and my music includes: 400% Love 400% Romance, and 200% of all that is between this promotion is no joke. I want my music to reach as many people who might need my music as possible, so you’ll be finding different topics in told uniquely within each of my releases, and depending on the listener’s state of mind, he’ll be able to choose the song that elevates his current emotion. But deep down in my core, I’m a Love/Romance artist who’s always in love and is ready to express his feelings spectacularly and mainly.

You’d give up making music for…

Financial crisis because if I don’t have money, there is no way I can create music because I’m always in need of help from those who’ll pick up where my disability left. For example, when it comes to mixing, mastering, or beat making, those tasks require a good ear and good sight. That is why there is no way I can create anything on my own currently; I pay a London producer by the name of FlipTunesMusic so that I can access his beat catalog, a producer/Audio engineer who goes by the name Larry Ohh! So that he can help fill in the blanks with tasks that require sight and come up with the final product. And finally, I pay an Australian designer who by the name Beartrix so that she can help bring my artwork ideas to life. All those require a huge amount of cash, and if I get to the point where I can’t pay any of them, this might be the end for me, so for anyone reading this, show your support for me and my music and let us keep on pushing

Orca – Your Home [Interview]

Describe your sound in 3 words

Melodic, unique, improving.

How many beats do you listen to before you end up using one? Tell us a few things about your creative process and your song “Your Home.”

When it comes to how many beats I listen to. I usually do not count because it is always different; sometimes, the feeling and connection come with the first beat I listen to; other times, I connect with the second or the third. But one thing is for certain I don’t sit down and listen to 10+ beats to choose one of them. The number is between 1-I work with a producer named FlipTunesMusic, and I’m a member of his subscription program where he sends the beats he produces per/month so. For example, he produced six beats in November, so I will be getting them all along with an unlimited license for me to use. Let us talk about my creative process; I’m a visual-impaired artist. I write my own lyrics, record my own vocals in my home studio, do some basic mixing, and develop ideas for my artwork. It all starts with me visualizing what I want to do before stepping behind the mic. So when I sit down to write the lyrics, I start visualizing myself recording the vocals and applying FX on them like delay reverb, stutters, Beat drops, flangers, Risers, and all the good stuff. Once I feel that everything is falling into place, I step behind the mic and start recording, applying all I can when it comes to mixing. Don’t forget I’m visually impaired, so I’ll always need the touch and guidance of an engineer in the final product. As soon as I finish recording and applying all I can, I send the rough mix to an amazing and talented engineer that I work with that goes by the name Larry Ohh! With the rough mix, a blueprint contains all the notes and instructions of what I want to be done in that specific mix; while all of this is going on, my designer also receives a blueprint that includes the exact specifications for the artwork.
Your home is my latest release and has a special place in my heart. Whenever I record a song, I make sure that it touches a specific audience since I promote myself as a visual-impaired artist who creates a catalog that includes 400% love, 400% romance, and 200% of all that Is between. So my vision is to create something that speaks to everyone and awakens the need to connect with whatever they are listening to. Your home talks about the fact that no relationship is 100% perfect; thus, people shouldn’t be afraid of problems within their relationships because hope is always present to correct whatever mistakes that our partners or we make no matter how destructive they are, there is always a chance to bounce back and start over, Light always awaits us at the end of the tunnel. Most of the time, problems can make us stronger since we’ll be learning new things about our other half. The idea spills into the artwork and not only the song itself. If you pay close attention to the artwork, there are light blue and dark blue. The light blue represents our home’s typical environment, while the dark blue represents an entirely different world that we don’t know anything about. Also, there are two orcas; the one with the headset represents me, while the other one is my partner. You’ll notice that the orca with the headset is drawn to be smaller than the other one; the idea behind this is to show the distance between us, while the close-up on the other orca signifies the speed of her slipping away and never looking back. Yet the other orca doesn’t step into the new world, and it stops in the last second, symbolizing that there is always hope to fix whatever is broken. There is always the possibility to sit down and talk. All can be fixed if we’re willing to make an effort, no matter how dire the situation.

For which lyric are you most proud of?

I’m proud of all my lyrics. When I first started writing, I began as a poet and novel writer, but in January 2021, I transitioned to songwriting. My work still needs improving, and there is always room for development, so we’ll see what happens in my future releases.

Favourite rapper, lyricist, and producer?

Personally, my favorites are T-pain Lil Wayne, Chris brown D.Brown Raven justice Flo Rida Jason Derulo Timbaland, and the list goes on.

What does hip hop symbolize, in your opinion?

Hip Hop is a form of music that allows me to express myself and also allows me to connect with more people. My goal is to stand out among the crowd and do something unique, so whenever people listen to it, they immediately know that it is orca behind the mic and hip hop gives me this opportunity to go out there and do what I love the most to me Hip Hop is the friend that will never betray me and will always stay by my side no matter what
.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?

When it comes to music, the advice I was given is to stay away from it. I’m from Jerusalem, and English isn’t my mother tongue, so the audience that listens to the type of music I create is pretty small, but this doesn’t mean that I should give up. Instead, I keep pushing and moving forward until I can finally create the movement that I’m always dreaming about, A movement where people can enjoy what I make and will help me create more music. So if it comes down to me and what advice I should give to other artists: never give up, keep on going because all of us can do it, and make our musical dreams come true.

One last thing we should know about you?

Of course, it is crucial to point out that I’m, as mentioned above, a visually-impaired artist. I suffer from two sight conditions, and I only see with one eye with less than 20%. I write my own lyrics, record my own vocals and come up with ideas for my artwork designs. I also run my own website and do the advertising as well. All this is very time-consuming and burns out whatever sight I have left, so I wish people could support me and help me focus on creating music because we all know that music cannot become known unless it spreads first. An artist without people backing them up isn’t destined to succeed in this industry, so my only hope is to build the movement of those who’ll enjoy what I create and are always ready to come back for more people than I can connect with and know more about what I want to make isn’t something temporary or one-sided I want to reach out to all of you and be able to grow with you as I go.

Thank you!
